Winter's here....

People,

I might be sounding like a weatherman handing of a regular report for the week, but guess what..I dont care..;-). Winter's set in. I cant imagine anything better than a warm winter morning, clear blue sky and good clean roads. Yeah..isnt that surprising...good clean roads..not usually heard off in a city like Hyderabad.

Thanks to GHMC commissioner Sarma. He is doing a great job. I think all roads in the city wear a new look due to re-carpetting. There was a study done recently to understand the reasons behind high pollution levels in Hyderabad. Guess what..dusty and muddy roads contributed to 37% of pollution which is the second highest, top contributor being the petroleum gases from vehicles in the city(44%). Rest was from the industries running in and around the city.

Couple of things that we can do to bring down the pollution levels remarkably are -

1. Start using environment friendly fuels like it's being in New Delhi now. Use CNG in autos and buses and we should see a HUGE difference.
2. Have good clean roads & pavements. That'll be another huge differentiator.

I know its pretty challenging on both counts. Getting all the stakeholder to realize the importance of reducing the pollution is just not easy. But it's not impossible. With sustained efforts and widespread advertising and publicity, we can bring in the much required awareness. Willingness will come automatically.Am I sounding like a reformer here..nah...just my 2 cents to make this city a pleasant place to live. After all I'm a Hyderabadi !!
